Franklinton - 2019
One Line Coffee + MMELO
MMELO is delighted to announce moving its entire production operation to a new dedicated ‘maker space’ in Franklintons River and Rich development (Casto). The initiative represents a significant expansion in MMELO’s capabilities and builds upon the invaluable support of ECDI’s incubator program and use of the shared commercial kitchen facility at Food Fort.
As part of a collaborative project celebrating the passion of two like-minded local independent businesses, MMELO is thrilled to partner with and work alongside One Line Coffee, who will launch their third retail store in the adjoining space.
Situated at the corner of Rich and McDowell Streets, One Line Coffee’s retail cafe serves as the company’s new flagship location, introducing new products and curated cafe experiences to customers.
‘Viewing’ areas cut into the partition wall separating the cafe and kitchen space, directly connect OLC patrons with the artisanal experience of making pastries, food and confections prepared for One Line Coffee as well as supplying MMELO’s Vine Street store, its corporate, wholesale and online customers. Going forward the dedicated ‘maker space’ provides MMELO the infrastructure and opportunity to expand its offer.
To compliment One Line Coffee’s extensive and nuanced selection of directly sourced coffees, teas, beers and wines, they will serve a range of MMELO’s all natural pastries, food and artisanal treats. Along with some traditionally popular baked items, MMELO and OLC are excited to offer a collection of products designed to highlight and encourage creative pairings of baked goods, chocolates and confections with specific coffees, signature drinks, beers and wines. Working together in a collaborative exploration of flavor profiles and curated eating experiences speaks to the spirit of One Line’s & MMELOS partnership and passion, underscoring a genuine desire to create something totally unique for its customers.
One Line Coffee will also stock a number of packaged MMELO products including chocolate bars, marshmmelos, tea cakes, as well as dietary sensitive vegan, gluten free and low-carb high healthy fat Keto products. Light ‘made to order’ brunch fare will be served at weekends.
MMELO’s commercial kitchen project will create approximately four new full time staff positions spanning bakers, chocolatiers and confectionary. We envisage a number of supplemental part time openings as well. MMELO will keep its Vine St. retail store presence opposite the North Market.
With existing locations in place, MMELO and One Line Coffee both hope to establish the new venue as an equally safe and inclusive environment, with company cultures and values of integrity that stimulate personal and professional growth for our employees. While MMELOs production space is not public, we collectively aspire to provide a valuable resource for learning, a place to proactively interact with the community and have fun. Plans for a programmed series of tours, classes, workshops and social gatherings that experientially connect the two practices / spaces are envisioned.
Architectural design, build and fit will all be undertaken by local companies.
MMELO would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark, Dave and Mick - One Line Coffee - for embarking on this journey.
The One Line / MMELO store will open early 2019.
